When I look this photo of Christine Falls in Mt Rainer National Park, I remember the sound of the falls, I feel the peacefulness, I think of the artisans who made this spectacular bridge. I want to walk into the Falls and feel the spray (I didn’t risk the climbing down, some people did). I love the beauty of nature. I am at peace.Christine Falls is an iconic location in Mt Rainer National Park. We were camping near the falls and I waited for the right light to not have deep shadows or over exposed foliage. I used a tripod and long shutter speed to blur the water. I took several shots at different exposures to get the full dynamic range. I shot three groupings, moving down the scene to capture the full scene. In post processing I combined the three exposures and then stitched the three groupings together. I now had the full scene at the right exposure. To bring back the depth, I selectively lightened and darkened areas to match what my eye saw when I took the picture. I added an Orton effect to soften the foliage and deepen the shadows.

Now the person who just walked down the steps and took a cell phone picture over my shoulder has a great picture too. The water won’t be blurred, but that’s okay.
